WQKR is a community-oriented “hometown” radio station serving Sumner County (White House, Portland, Westmoreland, Gallatin) and Robertson County (White House, Greenbrier, Cross Plains, Orlinda, East Robertson) as well as south central Kentucky (Simpson County and Franklin). Our signal is clearly heard from Nashville to Bowling Green (north/south) and Springfield to Lafayette (east/west). We broadcast on 1270 AM with 1,000-watts twenty-four hours a day.

The focus of our broadcast day is on our live local shows: “Good Morning, Portland,” Monday through Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 a.m. with Don Curry and Dale Sprouse shines a spotlight on not only Portland, but frequently features guests from White House. Regular contributors to the program include Billy Hobbs, Lawrence Gunnells, Mike McDonald, Diane Black, local White House business owners and newsmakers. News from White House, Millersville, Cross Plains and the surrounding area is always included in our local newscasts at two minutes past the hour, every hour. Because our area has only weekly newspapers, WQKR is the only daily source of local news for area residents.

“Musical Memories and Magical Moments” with Dutch Maris weekdays from noon until 1:00 p.m. Everyone who wants to know what’s going on in the community listens to these programs. The music we play is a format called “Timeless Favorites,” and consists of the top hits from the music charts between 1955 and 1995. Soft pop and rock music that everyone 35 and over can recognize or remember, and younger listeners also enjoy. Other local programs include "The Sunday Night Revival" with A. J. Carter, broadcast Sunday nights at 7:00 pm and featuring your favorite gospel music; and "Jodi's Hometown Beats," featuring music by and interviews with area bands, singers and musicians. It is on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm.

Because our primary goal is to serve the community, we have local news every hour along with national news, sports and a community events calendar, plus the “Traders Post” and farm market reports.

We are also the only radio station in Sumner County to broadcast University of Tennessee and Tennessee Titans’ football games, the Indy 500, the Super Bowl, March Madness and much more.
